DJ Booking Guide:
Netherlands & Amsterdam

The Netherlands has one of Europe's most vibrant electronic music scenes, with Amsterdam at its centre. Home to world-class clubs, major festivals like ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event), and a culture that deeply values electronic music, the Netherlands is a key market for any DJ building a European career.

1 Know the Scene

Amsterdam is the hub, but Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Eindhoven all have strong local scenes.

Amsterdam key venues:

  • Shelter — underground techno under A'DAM Tower
  • Garage Noord — diverse bookings, underground
  • DOKA — experimental/electronic
  • Club Raum — house/techno, curated
  • Jimmy Woo — house, more commercial
  • Paradiso — iconic venue, larger capacity, all genres
  • Melkweg — multi-room, diverse programming
  • Thuishaven — outdoor/festival style, summer

Rotterdam: Annabel, Maassilo (large capacity warehouse events). Utrecht: De Helling, Basis (underground).

2 How Dutch Clubs Book DJs

Amsterdam clubs are generally more approachable than Berlin's top tier. Dutch promoters are active on Instagram — DM is an effective channel.

ADE in October is the single most important networking event in the world for electronic music. Being in Amsterdam during ADE dramatically increases booking chances.

Dutch clubs often book 4–8 weeks in advance for regular nights, longer for special events. Building relationships with local promoters (not just venues) is key — many Amsterdam nights are run by independent promoters who rent clubs.

3 What to Send

Dutch booking managers respond well to: a concise DM or email with a mix link, a clear description of your sound in 1–2 sentences, reference to a specific night or event at their venue.

Follow up after 5–7 days if no response.

4 Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE)

ADE happens every October and is the world's largest club festival and music conference. For DJs, being present at ADE — even without a booking — creates enormous networking opportunities.

Many bookings for the following year are arranged during ADE week. If you're serious about the Netherlands and European market, attending ADE is non-negotiable.

5 Finding Contacts

  • RA profiles for most Amsterdam clubs include booking info
  • Instagram DM effective for smaller venues and promoters
  • Many Dutch clubs use bookings@ email addresses
